Shravan Month & Sawan Somwar Observances Begin in July 2025
Shravan (Sawan) Month Commences July 11 with Weekly Somwar Fasts
The sacred Shravan (Sawan) month begins on July 11, 2025, and continues until August 9, with Mondays (Somwars) designated for worship of Lord Shiva. The first Sawan Somwar falls on July 14, followed by subsequent observances on July 21, July 28, and August 4.
Devotees observe day-long fasts, perform ritual baths, offer bilva leaves, milk, honey, and chants at temples. Tuesdays, known as Mangala Gauri Vrat, are observed by women praying for marital prosperity.
Ceremonies follow the established Brahma Muhurat schedule and are expected to attract large pilgrim gatherings at Shiva temples across North India, especially in U.P., Bihar, and Maharashtra. District administrations are arranging special darshan timings, crowd management plans, and expanded public services to accommodate worshippers during this auspicious month.
