Uttar Pradesh Prepares for Festive Season Safety Ahead of Kanwar Yatra & Raksha Bandhan

Tight Vigil Laid in UP Before Key July–August Religious Events

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered heightened security and civic vigilance ahead of the busy July–August 2025 religious calendar, including Kanwar Yatra (11 July–9 August), Shravan Shivratri, Nag Panchami, and Raksha Bandhan.

In a June 2025 directive, authorities were instructed to crack down on provocative slogans, open sale of meat along Kanwar Yatra routes, and any public assembly featuring weapons. Special focus will be placed on districts like Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Ayodhya with intensified drone surveillance and social media monitoring.

A detailed checklist includes regulating event noise levels, ensuring sanitation and lighting, and verifying temporary lodging arrangements. Officials are also coordinating to prevent tree cutting and disruptions to local populations. The objective is to balance religious observance with communal harmony and public safety.
